Zoho the next big thing....it's counting and keeps counting

Let me state the visible trends which I saw….

From single Desktop application to multiple users, then using the application over the intranet where n number of user can user it. Slowly we started using Server based applications where n x n users can used the application. With penetration of internet the reach became more where n x n x n and keeps counting.

Changes happen with the trend. soon we will be carrying our operation system in a pen drive and just connect it to a computer and use this as our primary operating system and use internet as the medium for all our desktop applications.

Zoho offer a whole bundle for us…some services are free as of now and soon they will be charged. Sridhar Vembu is the CEO of AdventNet, which owns Zoho, a new on-demand office suite we’ve been hearing about a lot lately

Interesting things you should know about Sridhar Vembu and earlier i shared about Jambav.com it is part of AdventNet

• He is not from Software background he is from electrical background did his under graduation in IIT and doctorate from Princeton in 1989

• He worked with Qualcomm for two years. He worked on CDMA, power control and some very detailed issues on wireless communications. That is how he got started in the tech industry.

• He partnering with Tony Thomas, who had some network management software and was experienced in the area. They partnered and created a development center in India

• As of now there was no investment money of any kind, only some family and friends. Their early software for networking business started selling well and sold a lot to companies in Silicon Valley and Japan. Latter on in 2002 it came down and the new idea born from OEM to on demand services that is how Zoho was born.

Zoho has big bundle to offer

Zoho Office Suite, which includes Writer, Projects, Sheet, CRM, Show, Creator, Wiki, Planner, Suite, Notebook, Chat, Meeting and Mail.

Few Indian Start ups

We are on fast sphere changes are so quick, there are lots of developments happening around us and we are noticing them late…

Now I got time to say about few Indian Startups. These website came with cool concept and they have to penetrate to the reach soon they will stand tall with other websites.

1. Criticat.com (where you can rate your company and share your work experiences)
2. Ilaaka.com (India's first locality portal)
3. Imom.in (For today’s informative mom’s)
4. Burrp.com (Share local and search local)
5. Jambav.com (Online games for children)

First let me start with Criticat

Criticat a new start up by Shweta Gupta

Where you can rate you company and share your workplace experiences and provide constructive feedback.

When I was going through Indian startups, I found Criticat and found it interesting with innovative concept where we can rate you employer and share your experiences.

Here is a review about Satyam I was dumb a moment and just understood it was a review right from the heart….so, no comments

Satyam is one of the big IT companies in India roughly at no. 3 or 4 position.
First the good things:

1. If you are an andhriite and work in Satyam, you are semi god. you need not join any company in your life.
2. Satyam has a huge social impact in Andhra and if you are satyamiite, you get a lot of respect in Andhra and lot of dowry too. So ppl will not leave satyam until they get married.
3. Offers onsite and that too long term, so if you are ok with a low or moderate salary hike, just wait there and have patience and trust me you will be in America. No other company will send you but one day, one day in satyam you will surely be on site and come back only if you want to.
4. Most of the people are average so if you are bright you have good growth prospects in the company.
The bad ones :
1. never open a big mouth for salary.
2. never ask for too many perks.
3. if you go on site your appraisal is screwed no matter what you do.
4. lot of family ppl join Satyam, making it more of a family company.
5. Managers are not answerable for everything, even if he doesnt know know how to speak english, he can become a consultant.
6. On site calls will be mainly in Telugu and you should know telugu if you want to excel if you have gone on site too, because US is full of Telugus and they dont speak english sometimes not even in front of clients.
7. Ppl stick to their positions and take no risk at all which is the worst part.
8. Some ppl really dress up horribly, i would say 10% of Satyam is shabbily dressed up in slippers.
10. PM level ppl are ok in commuting to office by sitting on staircase of the company bus.

I feel, sooner or later Satyam will be sold off to someone.
Raju deserves all the appreciation for creating such a huge enterprise out of nothing. Satyam is big reason for the large number of Andhra guys in US.

Check out the link here…

Criticat is a great idea and it has to penetrate to the reach

1. It will be useful for employees when they are logging in to new companies they can check out the work place reviews of the company they are to be soon
2. Companies can check out the ratings by employees
3. Companies will get a snapshot of the gaps in the work place and can soon find time to fill them.

The navigation in the web site is quite easy and you can log in with Yahoo or Google ids

So, login and start share your review with others about the company you are working and know about other companies.

Good concept to serve the niche, with rapid changes in city life and increasing working women created space for imom.com. Where moms can share their experiences, how to bring up children they can ask, connect, read, and reviews

But imom can answer.
So moms create an account …..

Finally here comes

Jambav.com

Cool website for children

If I have to say about my childhood ….we are brought up in a join family and our siblings number counts 16 in same house, my number is 7 we all spent our time playing indoor games like caroms, snake and ladder and quarrel with each other if we are not declared as winners.
If it’s a Sunday our house in a home theatre and I still remember, its Jungle book time in DD followed by the Mahabharata

If I asked how my grand father enjoyed his childhood it a different story …

Coming to today’s generation of X-box and play stations…they will teach their parents what to buy and how to buy.

Surveys on children showed they are the decision makers in the family they select which car to buy and finalize what color is better.
They became gold rush for companies so now a day even the product is not related to children you find them in ads.

So this website is for today’s children for all abilities

Its best site parents can introduce to their children.

when is Zune comming to india ?

Microsoft is not about greed. It's about innovation and fairness.
--Bill Gates

Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.
--Steve Jobs

Now Who is the leader and who is the follower ?

If i ask the same question for a poll in US, obviously Steve will be the leader and bill will be follower
ok that is different story now my biggest question

when is Microsoft Zune coming to India ?

I have search in all our online shopping malls in india and finally found Zune 3OGB. That too Zune 1st Generation version for Rs 7000/- in India times Shopping and ICICI Wow Shopping. I am searching for Zune 80GB Classic Black look with premium earphones. No clue

Now let me talk about these Music Players

Apple ipod:

Launched on Oct23 2001 ipod is ruling the Music players market with its 5 models Classic,Nano,Mini,Shuffle,Touch.
1. Apple is having nearly 70% market share of music player pie
2. With its i tunes apple created a new wave in music industry.
3. i phone the next generation touch screen phone from apple with an ipod is the biggest tech talk gadget of 2007.
4. Steve is a great guy who bought revolutionary products first of its kind with great design and captured hearts of gadget lovers. there are many apple boy fans who are waiting for next generation i phones and i pods.

MS Zune :

Zune player was released in the United States on November 14, 2006. The Zune 4, 8 and 80 were announced on October 2, 2007.
1. Zune launched in 2006 5 year after the launch of ipod slowly started its momentum in digital music player market.
2. It just captured 4% of market share in Digital music player industry now with the launch of 2nd generation zune's recently the expectation are going on it is going to give tough competition to apple i pods
3. I have read in many blogs Microsoft is also planning to launch Zune Phones, Following the footsteps form ipod to i phone, Zune to Zune phone.
4. Bill is follower with a great ideas, he know how to penetrate in to market and become a dominant player.

why i am waiting for Zune80 GB

1. Bigger screen that Apple(Apple:2.5 inch, Zune:3.2 inch)
2. Built in FM (For Apple we have to purchase i trip for FM transmission)
3. You want a scratch resistant player: Zune (ipod is not Scratch resistant)
4. Zune 80GB with Wifi (Apple 80gb will not support)
5. Wireless Share (Zune is having it)

what i am missing when compared with Apple 80 GB

1. Apple is bit small in size (Zune LCD is bigger so doesn't matter)
2. Music play time is more for Apple when Compared with Zune ( Missing this in Zune)
3. i tunes on line store... i will not get desi stuff.. except recent Rajani's Shivaji

So Soon i am going to get one for me......

How to recover accidentally deleted photos from a memory card (for free!)

Janice Chen from zednet blog gave a good idea to recover photos which are accidentally deleted from our digital camera.

Most often photographs connect us back to our past memories and now digital cameras are playing larger role on the pie as they are easy to handle and every thing happens with just a click.

Recently my sister she came for US and captured many memories in her digital camera. just by a click she lost all the memories instead of deleting one photograph she pressed on delete all and lost all the photographs.

The next big thing in my mind is how to recover lost photographs ?

I started goggling and finally found a solution from Ms. Janice Chen who faced same problem....What ever may be the problem Google for a solution...ahhha

Here is the free recovery tool from which we can do

Art Plus Digital Photo Recovery 3.1

finally i got a solution ..

How Lottery Scams Work

You receive an unsolicited email, which states that you have won a major prize in an international lottery. Supposedly, your email address was collected online and attached to a random number that was subsequently entered in a draw for the lottery. In order to claim your prize, you are instructed to contact the official "agent" in charge of your case. You are also advised to keep the win confidential for "security reasons". This part of the scam is basically a random phishing expedition. If you respond in any way to the email, the scammers will send further messages or even contact you by phone in an attempt to draw you deeper into the scam.

You may be asked to provide banking details, a large amount of personal information, and copies of your driver's license and passport. Ostensibly, these requests are to prove your identity and facilitate the transfer of your winnings. However, if you comply with these requests, the scammers will have enough information to steal your identity.

Sooner or later, the scammers will request some sort of advance fee supposedly to cover administration, legal or delivery costs. At its core, this scam is just a reworking of the Nigerian loan fraud, in which scammers also eventually ask for upfront fees to facilitate the "deal". Like Nigerian scams, victims who do actually pay the requested fees will probably find that they receive continuing payment demands to cover "unexpected expenses". The requests for money will go on until the victim realizes what is happening or has no further money to send.

In some cases, the scammers give victims the option of opening an account at a particular bank as an alternative to paying upfront fees. However, this "bank" which is completely bogus, will insist on an initial deposit of $3000 as a requirement for opening the account. The fake bank will have a legitimate looking website to reinforce the scam. In other cases, the victim is given the option of traveling to an overseas destination and paying a cash fee to facilitate the release of the funds. However, any "winnings" released to the victim will be counterfeit and therefore worthless.

The details of the lottery scams vary regularly with regard to the name of the lottery itself, the country of origin, the sponsoring organization, the amount of the "prize" and other particulars. The scammers try to add a patina of legitimacy to their claims by mentioning real financial institutions, government departments or well-known companies. They may also provide links to slick looking, but fraudulent websites that are designed to back up information included in the scam emails. If the scammers are successful in establishing a dialogue with a potential victim, they may provide "proof" such as a scanned image of a supposed government official's ID and even photographs of the "winnings" in cash.

What To Do If You Receive a Lottery Scam Email

If you receive one of these scam emails, it is important that you do not respond to it in any way. The scammers are likely to act upon any response from those they see as potential victims. Although it can be educational and even entertaining to "bait" these scammers, such endeavours should only be attempted under controlled conditions. The people who run these scams are criminals and could even resort to violence and intimidation to meet their aims. You should delete the email without replying. Before you delete the message, you might like to report the scam by forwarding the email to the address supplied on the FraudWatch International website.
